Reiki has many lineages. They all trace back to Mikao Usui. But they have evolved in different ways.

There is Usui Reiki, Hayashi Reiki, Takata Reiki, Western Reiki, Japanese Reiki, Karuna Reiki, Holy Fire Reiki, and many others.

The main Reiki lineages include: Usui Reiki (the original from Mikao Usui), Hayashi Reiki (the systematized version by Chujiro Hayashi), Takata/Western Reiki (the version brought to the West by Hawayo Takata), Japanese Reiki (traditional Japanese practice), Karuna Reiki (developed by William Lee Rand), and Holy Fire Reiki (a modern variation).
